Mountain
Mount Arayat is an extinct stratovolcano on Luzon Island, Philippines, rising to a height of 1,026 metres (3,366 ft) There is no recorded eruption of the volcano, and its last activity probably dates to the Holocene era.[1]
The volcano is located in a flat agricultural region at 15°12′N 120°45′E. The southern half of the mountain lies within the municipality of Arayat, Pampanga, while the north half and the mountain summit lies within Magalang, Pampanga. Ten miles to the west of Mount Arayat is Angeles City and the former Clark Air Base. Mount Pinatubo is located a further 16 km (10 mi) west. The Volcano is a popular Tourist destination for people visiting the central plains.
It is considered a mystical mountain, the legendary home of Aung/Aring Sinukuan/Sinkuan/Suku or the Fairy known as diwata Mariang Sinukuandepending on which version of the story the readers or listeners prefer, but in ancient Kapampangan folklore as well as the research known to have been gathered by Kapampangan students of Henry Otley Beyer, it was and is the abode of Apung/Aring Sinukuan, rival of Namalyari of Mount Pinatubo, who is in varying versions, the son of Cargon-Cargon who was mortally wounded in a fight with a giant from the Zambales Mountain Range which is said to be the home of Apu Namalyari.
Churches/Shrines
St. Bartholomew Parish Church (Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando, Vicariate of St. John the Beloved) was established by the Augustinians in 1605, it was the scene of the encounter between the followers of Andres Malong led by Melchor de Vera and the Spanish troops in 1660. Moved to San Bartolome in 1734, the church was swept by Parua river in the flood of 1863. It was re-established in Barrio San Pedro on December 13, 1863. The 3-aisle church is made of stone and wood. It is 55m. long, 21m. wide and 7m. high. Interplay of arches, as seen on the main entrance, doors and niches, pediments and fenestrations, including those of the bellowers and adjacent convent suggest a touch of baroque.
This grandiose dream of spreading out the Fourteen (14) Stations of the Cross on the foot of Mt. Arayat, going uphill, with an amazing overlooking view of Pampanga and nearby provinces, is a project spearheaded by SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF MAGALANG. This noble undertaking is now 85% in completion and this was made possible because of the immeasurable support and generosity of benevolent people whom God has called and chosen. However, substantial amount is still needed to finally meet its completion, that is why we are mustering enough courage to push through until we finish this magnificent and spiritually enriching project. When completed, this will be the only project commemorating the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ-a lasting and loving proof of our faith as Christians.

Bringing of food is not allowed. Abe’s Farm restaurant serves a variety of dishes for lunch, merienda and dinner. Guests who desire to take their meals late in the evening must place their orders before the restaurant closes at 8:00 PM.
