Vice-gov heightens disaster preparedness

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Vice-governor and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council vice-chair Dennis Pineda on Monday met with the council members and representatives from Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) and other local officials to constitute their assessments on the previous disaster brought about by Habagat (Summer monsoon- (West or Southwest).
This was gleaned in relation to the problems encountered with the creeks, tail dikes and other structures that need attention like dredging, de-silting and excavation to protect the entire province from soil erosion and flashfloods.
Relatively, 1st district Board member Crisostomo Garbo for his part, cited barangays Bundagul and Paralayunan in Mabalacat City as the most endangered to corrosion and need a steady solution.
Meanwhile, the vice-governor has ordered Engineer Andy Austria of Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) to study the site where to install equipments to fast track waste spoilage.
Also, the vice governor vowed to seal the proposal with Governor Lilia G. Pineda in buying the intended equipments for dredging and de-silting that would deal with disaster problems.
The meeting was intended for a work-up solution on the part of the provincial government in coordination with the national agencies and local officials in excavating all waterways to restrain further disaster in the province.
Also in the meeting were President of the Councilor’s League Mike Tapang, 4th district Board member Ricardo Yabut and Minalin Mayor Edgardo Flores.
