VG Delta ‘prioritizes’ benefits for 1,340 scavengers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Vice Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda quickly resolved the medical problems of some 1,340 scavengers by shouldering their hospital bills.

Apart from the medical assistance, the scavengers’ children who want to go to school were offered scholarship grants by the vice governor. With a theme “Ayusan ing Basura, Ampo ing Kapaligiran,” Pineda also led the distribution of their

financial assistance, including groceries composed of 5kg rice and 12 canned goods. Assisting him were Board Members: Anthony Joseph Torres, Pol Balingit, Benny Jocson and Jun Canlas; Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management

Office (PDRRMO) Head Angie Blanco, Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) Head Elizabeth Baybayan, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Luningning Vergara.

In behalf of Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda, Engineer Arthur Punzalan of Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) said during the distribution that the governor will also give pushcarts for the scavengers.

Meanwhile, PSWDO head Elizabeth Baybayan also said that the provincial government will offer ‘libreng pustiso’ for them. The City of San Fernando Police and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) responders were
