CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least P6,597,000 cash assistance were given by Vice Governor Dennis and members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to 2,199 college scholars, Nanay Community Workers, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and day care workers yesterday at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
As this developed, the vice governor vowed to expand the efforts of the provincial government in providing continuous support to Cabalen scholars and marginalized sector.
In particular, some 1,453 college students, 516 nanay community workers, 172 daycare workers, 58 (PWDs) received P3,000 each.
Through Ordinance No. 695 or the extended educational financial assistance program (EEPAP) approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, entitles the provincial government to grant cash assistance to EFAP graduates who took courses with board examination.
“We make sure until you graduate we can extend our support with you. Even after you finished your studies, as long as the Governor and I are here, we will continue to support you,” the vice-governor said.
During the said event, Provincial Librarian Bessie Makabali mentioned the requirements needed to avail the cash assistance for board takers which includes review center enrollment, official receipt of payment (review center), application receipt from Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), notice of admission (NOA) signed by board exam watcher and one valid id.
Architecture graduates who will take the boards after two years of practicum are also included to avail the cash assistance provided they will comply with the need requirements, Macabali said.
She also reminded the scholars to focus on studying and to maintain in achieving good grades.
“Do your best to maintain your grades because if you have a failing mark you will be dropped from the scholar list. Be reminded that the provincial government has extended its efforts in supporting you (scholars) even after you graduate,” she added.
The EEFAP follows a “one scholar policy” to which undergraduates can apply for a one time scholarship under the provincial government or from the board members’ scholarship programs.
Also assisted in the distribution are Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Chief Angie Blanco, 1ST District Board Member Cherry Manalo, 2nd District Board Member Anthony Joseph “Tonton” Torres, 4th District Board Member Pol Balingit and the Provincial Treasurer’s Office headed by Susan Luna.
