CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Pampanga and Provincial Police Office (PPO) set a unity walk for all the candidates and stakeholders of the barangay elections on October 26 early in the morning.
PPO Director Oscar Albayalde said the activity will start with a mass at PPO Compound then the unity walk going to downtown of this city.
He said the unity walk aims to promote peaceful and safe election, camaraderie among candidates and awareness to the public.
All Kapampangans who filed their certificate of candidacy are invited to join as well as other government and non-government agencies and stakeholders who are advocate of peaceful and orderly poll.
“Let everyone witness that we are united in promoting the success of the upcoming election. That we protect the integrity and solemnity of our votes,” Albayalde appealed to the public.
Comelec Pampanga Supervisor Atty. Lydia Pangilinan said the unity walk is a traditional activity every election that heralds the significance of the poll and targets the humane and spiritual side of the electorates.
Aside from this walk for a cause, the Comelec and PNP conduct signing of peace covenant every town and cities.
“Eight municipalities had signed the peace covenant and we are targeting the rest of the town this week,” said Albayalde.
