CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Vice Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ G. Pineda assured the approval of the ordinance granting of tax amnesty or financial relief to real property taxpayers in Pampanga by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Vice Governor said the move of the provincial board aimed at helping the delinquent taxpayers.

It can be recalled that the provincial board recently convened with municipal assessors and treasurers to discuss the proposed Tax Amnesty Ordinance.

Under the proposed ordinance, Vice Governor said that real property taxpayers will only need to pay the basic tax, excluding the payment of the accumulated surcharges, interests, and penalties that were accounted from their unsettled Real Property Taxes (RPTs).

Nanay Gov emphasized that the tax amnesty will help those real property taxpayers who are incapable of settling their taxes due to the huge amount of penalties, surcharges, or interest on their taxes. Thus, she urged them to take the opportunity to pay their unpaid taxes while there is a granting of financial relief.

“Buri ku atin kaming BIR desk keng bawat munisipyu. Ilang magcompute, edala papamayaran reng tawu. Importanti samantalan re ining estate tax at tyaka ining kekaming tax amnesty keng amilyar na alang interes,” Nanay said.

Moreover, Nanay also stressed that one way to enable the government to collect taxes is to remove the names of the deceased members or owners in the land titles. She added that real property owners must pay their taxes before they transfer their land titles from red (which is now considered as invalid) into blue.

“Dapat retang ala nang makalagyu ketang titulu, retang mete na, lako da nala. Metung sigurung dahilan ini bang makakolekta ya ing gobyernu ketang estate tax, ketang tax amnesty na,” she said.

To disseminate the information about the tax amnesty to all taxpayers in the province, Nanay is asking for the assistance of different private sectors including media organizations.

She plans to attend radio guesting to announce and discuss the matter together with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), director of finance, and assessors.
