The Sangguniang Panlalawigan is set to hold a public hearing on the proposed provincial comprehensive health ordinance tomorrow, July 22 at 8 o’clock in the morning at the provincial capitol’s session hall.
Pampanga SP Chair and Vice-Governor Joseller Guiao said that the conduct of the said hearing is in line with the provincial board’s agreement to enact a provincial health ordinance which shall encompass all the health requirements and health needs of the province.
Guiao said that Board Member Cris Garbo recommended in last Monday’s session of the provincial board the conduct of a series of public hearings with concerned sectors at the soonest possible time to speed up the formulation and passing of the health ordinance.
The Vice-Governor said that the proposed health ordinance is in line with Governor Lilia G. Pineda’s commitment to ensure the delivery of much-improved health services to her constituents.
“We should act immediately so as not to lag behind in our tasks,” Garbo explained as he added that the enactment of the said act at the soonest possible time will be a big boost to the Governor’s desire to improve, rehabilitate and further develop the public hospitals in the province.
Garbo said that it is very important that the province has a unified set of rules and regulations among hospitals.
Chief nurses and administrative staff will be invited in the said hearing tomorrow while municipal health officers, rural health unit staff and chiefs of hospitals will be scheduled in the succeeding public hearings.
Guiao said that Garbo, in the previous session of the provincial board, submitted a draft of a proposed ordinance on hospital policies and procedures as well as the adoption of updated hospital fees. The said proposal according to Garbo was a consolidated effort of district and regional hospitals and others concerned with said health services.
“It is but fitting if the SP could pass the comprehensive provincial health act during the Governor’s term as it augurs well for her priority agenda,” Guiao emphasized.
