CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Under the governance of Governor Lilia G. Pineda, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice-governor Dennis Pineda has ratified a total of 535 resolutions and 51 ordinances catering the most significant needs of the Kapampangans.
One of the resolutions that was approved last year is the Senior Citizens Code of the province. Said ordinance gave leeway to the creation of the Provincial Council for the Welfare of Senior Citizens. Through this ordinance, the provincial government was able to focus more on the matters of the aged men and women of the province.
Reports showed that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan had undertaken 38 government sessions and 109 committee hearings in 2014.
Another regulation that has been ratified last year is the Persons with Disabilities Code (Pampanga).
This law offers a 20% discount to all PWD’s off their medicines, transportation, dental and medical services including diagnostic procedures like X-ray, Ultrasound, blood test, CT-scan and others. PWD’s can also enjoy discounts on restaurants, hotels, resorts, amusement parks and other leisure parks.
Through this ordinance, a Provincial Council on PWD Affairs was similarly created under the PSWD office.
These and more, the Board members have also approved a resolution where the governor has been given the authority to deal with other government agencies through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Public Works and Highways and many others in launching their programs for the benefit of the province.
Furthermore, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Anti-Climate Change Code has already been made an ordinance to systematize the procedure in disaster preparedness and Climate change.
Likewise, an ordinance regarding Gender and Development Code of the province has been approved to promote equality among men and women in accordance with the law and projects which entail progress of the people of the province.
