Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Pampanga Federation President and Provincial Board Member Krizzanel Garbo urged fellow youth leaders and members to undertake youth development-oriented programs and projects and contribute to the development of Pampanga.
Garbo relayed this message to the municipal officials and members of the SK and the Pag-Asa Youth Association (PYA) who attended the youth organizational meeting conducted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) and the Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO) at the Benigno Aquino Memorial Hall in the City of San Fernando.
She said that aside from sports tournament, youth leaders should also initiate projects and activities geared towards the provision and development of health, education and livelihood opportunities of their sector.
PSWDO Head Elizabeth Baybayan said that Governor Lilia G. Pineda envisions seeing the in-school, out-of-school, working and the disadvantaged youths empowered and engaged in tangible and productive endeavors.
Baybayan said that preparations are now underway for the holding of a general assembly of youths aged 15 to 30 years old next month.
She explained that through the youth organization, the members would have easier access to the various development programs and services of the provincial government.
In the meantime, she encouraged the youths who attended the organizational meeting to start mapping and profiling the target youth-members in their respective municipalities.
Jonathan Lintag, PESO youth coordinator, stressed that the youths play vital roles in the development of the province as he encouraged their participation and support in strengthening the youth-oriented development programs and projects of the Pineda administration.
Lintag expressed optimism that the planned youth general assembly would be participated in by the target sector throughout the province as this would open various opportunities for their development.
Jaime Jose, PYA Vice-President for Region III, briefed the participants on the programs and services of the nationwide association of 15 to 24 years old who are clientele of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD).
Jose explained that PYA is a barangay-based organization of OSYs which aims to provide opportunities to the disadvantaged youths and actualize their potentials and aspirations and for them to experience self-fulfillment.
He also presented the salient features of the Unlad Kabataan program, a comprehensive package of services which aim to promote the development of the target youths and enable them to become self-reliant, economically productive and socially responsible citizens. (Pampanga PIO)
