CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – To further enhance the knowledge of stakeholders on the guidelines, procedures, and the implementing rules and regulations for data sharing, the Provincial Government of Pampanga through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conducted a basic orientation on Data Privacy Act of 2012 (DPA).
The event held at the Executive House, Capitol building recently was attended by provincial government staff and local social workers from the 19 municipalities and two cities of the province.
According to PSWD Officer Elizabeth G. Estiller-Baybayan, the orientation is in preparation to access the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) database of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD).
The social worker added that the seminar also aims to improve the coordination among service providers in data collection and sharing of pertinent information of clients without divulging any sensitive details and ensure a mechanism that will safeguard the personal and sensitive information of clients with utmost confidentiality.
Czar Cornelius David, National Household Targeting Unit head, discussed the salient points of DPA. An open forum between the resource person and the participants followed after.
David emphasized that the data must be used solely for the implementation of different social protection programs and services of the local government.
Baybayan added that the provincial government is set to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the DSWD to access the Listahanan database in accordance with the DPA.
