CITY OF SAN FERNANDO –In time for the celebration of the blood donors’ month this July, the provincial government of Pampanga initiated a bloodletting activity yesterday at the Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Compound in this city.
With the battle-cry “Daya cu saup cu, Blood Donor cu Pagmaragul cu”, this initiative was made possible through the concerted efforts of the Provincial Blood-letting and Advocacy Services, Philippine Red Cross –Pampanga-Angeles Chapter, Pampanga Medical Specialist Hospital and Amando Garcia Medical Center.
Specifically invited for this year’s blood-letting were the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) headed by provincial chief Marlon Madrid, Philippine Army led by General Henry Sabarre and the employees of the Pampanga capitol.
“The priority beneficiaries of this advocacy are the indigent Kapampangans suffering from leukemia, cancer, kidney diseases, dengue, undergoing dialysis, for the mothers giving birth and those victims of accidents,” Pampanga provincial health office chief Dr. Marcelo Jaochico said.
“Though we still have available blood bags in the PRC, we want to make sure that we won’t run out of free blood for our patients,” Jaochico added.
The indigent patients may coordinate with the district hospitals and the provincial government to avail the free blood bags in the PRC.
“Being a hero doesn’t mean we have to die for other people. We can save lives by donating blood. Every blood donor is already a hero,” PRC chief Rowena Flores stressed.
