CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Four Kapampangans from the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit of the Pampanga police bagged two awards in the recently concluded Sharp-Blade 2018 International Sniping Competition held in Beijing, China last October 18 to 22.
Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda lauded the policemen, who represented the Philippines, as they paid a courtesy call at the Capitol here on Monday.
Accompanied by Supt. Michael ‘Mike’ Masangkay were Philippine Team members SPO4 Jovit Agumboy, PO3 Elmer Belen, PO3 Raffy Tacderan and PO1 Joseph Cabading.
The team won the United Striving Award.
Meanwhile, Tacderan, who joined the individual category, got the Excellence Award. He was one of the 13 police who received a ‘dagger’ as prize.
The SWAT members thanked the provincial government for its unending support to the Pampanga Police Office (PPO), not just in the recent competition but also in terms of rehabilitation and renovation of offices and aid to service vehicles.
Moreover, Pineda highlighted that Kapampangans’ talents are not just for local, but also for international competitions.
