City of San Fernando — The Police Regional Office-3 (PRO3), together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday conducted a dialogue with Muslim leaders from Pampanga and neighbouring provinces to foster cooperation for peace and order in the whole region.
The forum, which was attended by more than 50 Islam leaders, was held at Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol compound.
In his message, Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Aaron N. Aquino, stressed the importance of unity and cooperation in the community and urged everyone, including the Muslim residents to take active role in this endeavour.
He urged the Muslims who have reside in the region for a long time to give their full support and to be vigilant with some fellow Muslims who may have ill-motives.
“Tulungan ninyo ang kapulisan at ang military na sugpuin ang anumang masamang gawaing na maaaring ihasik ng mga taong nais manggulo sa katahimikan ng inyong komunidad at isumbong ninyo agad ang mga kahinahinalang tao at kanilang ‘di-kanais-nais na mga aktibidad,’’ Aquino said.
“For your safety and for the immediate dissemination of your report about lawless elements, please text us or call the PNP hotline,’’ he added.
Aquino also encouraged the Muslims to stay away from drugs to avoid problems in the future, pointing that the government is serious in its campaign against illegal drugs. He cited the recent massacre in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan of five family members, including three children, which was perpetrated by a self-confessed drug user.
Board Member Roseve Henson, for his part, told the Muslim leaders that he has a high regard for them, especially those who are long-time residents of Pampanga.
The occasion was also graced by Brig. Gen. David Diciano, acting commander of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID), Army Col. Henry A. Robenson, Jr of 702 Brigade, Army Lt. Col. Lucito C. Carin of, 7th Civil Military Operations (CMO) and 7ID, and Rufino Mendoza, director of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA).
