Pineda to execs: use intel-funds to combat crime, illegal drugs

City of San Fernando – Governor Lilia Pineda urged the local executives of Pampanga to properly use the intelligence fund from their Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) to combat all forms of criminality including the proliferation of illegal drugs.
This was gleaned during the Provincial Peace and Order Council Meeting at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.
“This is high time that they should use their approved intelligence fund in aid of the province’s drive against illegal drugs,” she said.

The governor said she is eyeing in making all the 505 barangays in the province drug-free.
She also added that this will also reflect on every municipality and city’s response to the fight against illegal drugs. “It is the sole purpose of allocating these intelligence funds,” she added.
The governor also urged the mayors to act first to clean their respective areas from drug menace by encouraging the drug suspects to voluntarily submit themselves to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to avoid bloody encounters.

She also called for the close coordination of the local chief executives and the village elected officials, through the activation of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC).
