Pineda supports Fiesta Republica Celebration in Malolos City

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda has expressed support to the Fiesta Republica celebration to be held at Malolos City wherein the province is expected to join the festivity.

 

Malolos City Mayor Christian Natividad in his visit to Gov. Pineda presented the activities of the week-long celebration from January 17-23, 2012.

 

Natividad said they invited Pampanga being one of the eight provinces who started the Philippine revolution during the Spanish Era and now represented as the eight rays of the sun in the National Flag namely; Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Manila, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas.

 

“Fiesta Republica is an annusl activity in our city but this time, we would like to elevate the event to a national level to involve the participation of the eight provinces that revolted against the Spanish rule,” said Natividad.

 

Gov. Pineda stated the intention of the provincial government to participate in the Fiesta since it involves socio-historical-cultural events as a tribute to the gallantry and wisdom of our local heroes.

 

“The whole nation not only the Kapampangans should observe and celebrate this momentous part of the country’s history that signifies democracy, freedom and sovereignty,” Gov. Pineda uttered.

 

In order to give stressed to the socio-cultural value of the event the activities included are; memorabilia exhibit, tableaux, Dula Lansangan, Pasiklaban ng mga Banda para sa Republika, Raprapan sa Kasaysayan, Timpalak Awit-Makabayan, at Republic Day Commemorative.

 

Fiesta Republica is a celebration of history, arts and culture of the Renaissance of the City of Malolos, conceived to arouse the consciousness of the Filipino people on the significance of the founding of the First Philippine Republic on the 23rd of January 1899 at the Barasoain Church.
