Pineda opens 182 classrooms, 6 covered courts in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda has opened 182 newly
constructed classrooms and six covered courts for 90 elementary and secondary public schools
in the province amounting to P176.4-million the other day.

With the belief that the Department of Education cannot do it alone, the provision of all the
needs of public schools, the governor initiated the construction of classrooms and covered
courts through the use of the province’s general fund.

“We treasure the value of education; hence, the provincial government is very much willing to
invest for it to ensure a better future of the young Kapampangans,” the governor said.

With this in mind, Pineda is in full support to DepEd in addressing the needs and necessities of
public schools.

Based on the report obtained from the office of the provincial engineer, in 2011, the Capitol
released P50, 083, 216 for the construction of 45 new rooms; repair and improvement of 32
classrooms and building of 5 covered courts.

This year, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has allotted and approved the amount of P54, 149,836
for the construction of 28 new classrooms, repair and improvements of 77 classrooms and one
covered court.

The governor added that one of the advocacies of the province is to encourage parents and
guardians to send their children to school as well as to persuade students to study by providing
them the environment conducive for learning and development

“School environment conducive to learning is significant and the provision of which shows that
the provincial government is serious in its campaign of improving the quality of education of
public schools in the province,” Pineda stated.

Engr. Olimpio Pangan, assistant provincial engineer said, aside from the completed classrooms,
the provincial government has on-going construction of thirty five classrooms amounting to
P62.5 million and another P9.7 million for the construction of boys and girls comfort rooms for
26 public schools.

“The governor instructed our office to build spacious and well ventilated classrooms with
comfort rooms whose quality is good for ten years or more,” Pangan added.
