CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The Philippine Health Insurance Inc. (Philhealth) congratulated the Province of Pampanga for recording the highest rate of Philhealth registration throughout Central Luzon yesterday in the 3rd Pampanga Health Summit.
It was reported that of all province in Region 3, Pampanga recorded registration of 83% of its population or 2, 070,078 individuals.
Pampanga reached 208% increase in the coverage of the healthcare insurance for the NHTS-PR beneficiaries with 152, 510 indigents for 2014.
Aside from this, Philhealth recognized the effort of the Pampanga Provincial Government in the accreditation of the government hospitals and rural health units to Philhealth services.
Moreover, government hospitals in Pampanga are now fully implementing the Point of Care service on which indigent non-Philhealth members can readily avail of Philhealth services.
However, according to Philhealth, Pampanga still needs to accomplish more to achieve their Philhealth targets.
By this year, the target percentage of enrolment is 85-95% of Pampanga’s population.
According to Philhealth, by 2014-2016, there should be an allotted budget for the membership of all Local Government Unit workers, lower income sectors and the poor and near poor individuals.
Philhealth officials also emphasized the improvement of the services of the district and provincial hospitals in terms of lack of diagnostic procedures, anaesthesiologist residency and medical prescription availability.
Governor Lilia Pineda instructed Dr Leonita Gorgolon, Department of Health Regional Director, to work on the issue and keep a keen eye on the 11 district hospitals, the provincial hospital and Jose B. Lingad Medical Center.
“Dr. Gorgolon, dapat bantayan mo yang mga ospital natin lalo na ang JBL. Siguraduhin mong walang mahirap na Philhealth member na magpapacheck-up pero lalabas ng walang gamot,” said Pineda.
