CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- The provincial disaster risk reduction management council (PDRRMC) intensified its communication plan as preparation for the rainy season and calamities.
Engr. Lulu Alingcastre, head of the provincial disaster risk reduction office (PDRRMO) said they set-up communication centers with complete equipment such as hand-held radios and mobile phones.
“These centers will serve as the town’s radio base where official warnings will be issued and reporting will be made. The repeater is stationed in Clark Freeport and in Sindalan,” said Alingcastre.
She stressed the importance of fast transfer of early warnings for the immediate preparation of barangay officials and the households.
“Communication is very important during disasters to prevent casualties and heavy damages. We need to deter bogus reports from spreading so the PDRRMC can act instantaneously and prevent panic,” she said.
PDDRMO reported the high-risk areas during disasters these are; Gugu Creek in Bacolor; Arayat-ApalitSetback Levee particularly in Brgy. Cupang and Guemasan section in Arayat and in fourth district; and other Pampanga river channels in second district.
Alingcastre admitted despite the early preparation of the province, it cannot be describe as perfect. She said the success of the disaster plans of the province also depend on the cooperation of the people and the local officials.
“The council prepared relief goods, stocks, equipment, and trained rescue teams. It is now up to the people on how they will respond on our warnings,” she said.
