SAN SIMON – The Pampanga Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Tuesday recognized this municipality’s best practices when it comes to dengue prevention and control program.
According to OIC-PHO Dr Jose Antonio Rivera, record shows that there are no reported dengue cases in the municipality for the past six weeks.
Dr. Rivera said the dengue prevention and control program of San Simon should be duplicated by other municipalities to ensure that the rise of dengue cases in the province will be prevented.
“We will pair San Simon’s dengue program to other municipalities and let’s see kung magiging effective ito sa kanila. This activity is part of the preparation of the provincial government in preventing the rise of dengue cases in Pampanga,” Rivera said.
San Simon Mayor Leonora Wong said that the dengue summit, activation of dengue task force and the clean and green program which is supported by a municipal ordinance are just some of the programs and activities that the municipality through the Municipal Health Office is conducting to eradicate the deadly source of dengue.
Provincial health officer for Public Health Dr Maria Imelda Ignacio said the dengue program became effective in San Simon after the organization of a dengue task force.
In 2015, The PHO recorded more than 9,000 dengue cases in the province.
