Pampanga PESO Announces Slots for Scholarships, Job Openings

Local automotive technicians shall have a shot at gaining a scholarship at the General Motors Advanced Technician Training Center (GMATTC) that would lead to a guaranteed offer of employment in a General Motors Authorized Dealership in the Middle East while Airphil Express has openings for cabin crew for domestic and international flights.

This was learned from Luningning Vergara, head of the Pampanga Public Employment Services Office (PESO), who announced that the GMATTC  and the Airphil Express have gotten in touch with the PESO to make the appropriate announcement to qualified applicants.

According to Vergara, the GMATTC was established in 2008 and is operated by the DTT Technical Training Center which is based in Angat, Bulacan.

The GMATTC scholarship program will run for 13 weeks and consists of highly advanced training in all areas of automotive technology.

In his letter to the PESO, Per Storskog, manager of the GMATTC, said the offer is open to those who have the following qualifications:

– completed a one-year automotive course,

– between 24 and 40 years old,

– with a minimum of 24 months experience as an all-around technician,

– shall have passed an initial GMATTC entrance test and interview,

– with a valid passport by the time they join the program,

– and in good health.

According to Storskog, the GMATTC does not require any fees or payments of any kind and that is it a “scholarship program sponsored by GM Middle East to enable GM Middle east dealers to receive highly trainees technicians at their dealerships”.

The 13-week program reportedly offers benefits such as the following:

– no tuition fees/recruitment or placement fees

– monthly stipend of P15,000.00

– graduation bonus of P15,000.00

– graduation certificate and graduation dinner

– furnished air conditioned dormitories/computer room/recreation room

– a cafeteria

– books

– uniform

– complete beddings

– laundry of uniform/beddings/towels

– no medical examination costs

– no visa or flight costs

The training starts on September 11 and ends on December 8. Its graduates shall be considered for employment in GM dealerships in the Middle East.

For its cabin crew personnel, Airphil Express prefers female applicants who are based in Pampanga with the following qualifications:

-18-30 years old

-flying experience supported by employment certificate

-with years of experience as cabin crew an advantage

-minimum arm reach of 200 cms (to be able to reach emergency equipment in all aircraft types)

-weight proportionate to height

-high standards of personal appearance and grooming

-clear complexion

-no tattoos visible while wearing the Airphil Express uniform

-physically fit

-with 20/20 vision

-single, with good moral character

-at least a high school graduate, or any Bachelor course

-willing to work in domestic and international environment

-willing to be assigned to any station based on operational requirement

-ability to speak Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, Bahasa or Malay, a plus factor

Vergara announced that a local recruitment activity relative to the Airphil Express openings will be held on August 4 and 5 at the Benigno Aquino Jr. Hall, Capitol Compound, from 8 am to 5 pm.

Applicants are encouraged to come in business attire – a sleeveless shirt with blazer, and a skirt which is at least three inches above the knee, without stockings. (Pampanga PIO)
