Pampanga is Now Interconnected

Governor Lilia G. Pineda expressed optimism that the newly-launched Globe Telecom and Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) joint interconnection project in Pampanga will definitely hasten the desired economic development for the province.

This developed as the governor, together with Armando “Dodjie” Lim of PLDT, Atty. Froilan Castelo of Globe Telecom, National Telecommunications Commissioner (NTC) Gamaliel Cordoba, Deputy Commissioners Delilah Delez and Carlo Jose Martinez and Regional Director Azor Sitchon led the ceremonial launching of the interconnection project at the provincial capitol’s executive house.

Pampanga Vice-Governor Joseller Guiao, Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres S. Pangilinan, Jr., board members and department heads also attended the said momentous telecommunication event.

The interconnection project launching signaled the start of more reliable, affordable and efficient telecommunication services in the province as there would be no more long distance charges for calls between PLDT and Globe-Innove landlines within Pampanga, Castelo said.

He said that Pampanga is the second province after Davao City which now experiences local interconnection services.

Castelo thanked the provincial government’s officialdom especially the governor, vice-governor and Board Member Ric Yabut for their wholehearted support in ensuring the fruition of the telecommunication project, one of the key points in delivering efficient services to the province.

In her message, the governor also said that telecommunications is a vital tool in the development of the province adding that “kung hindi buo ang communication facilities and services, hindi uunlad ang probinsiya”.

Pineda stressed that telecommunications is an important factor in the maintenance of peace and order especially in remote barangays.

She also acknowledged Manny V. Pangilinan, PLDT’s top honcho and a fellow Kapampangan, for his support to the project as she said that the interconnection project would definitely hasten the economic progress of the province.

To this, Lim said that Pampanga is close to the heart of PLDT as he likewise thanked the provincial government for its full cooperation and unwavering support to the said economy uplifting event.

More so, he assured the provincial government that the PLDT will provide faster internet services to all development projects of the Pineda administration. The company will also provide an emergency network service for the Philippine National Police to further boost the peace and order campaign in the province.

To culminate the project launching event, the top officials of the provincial government, PLDT, Globe Telecom and NTC jointly raised a toast to the bright future of telecommunications in the province.  (Pampanga PIO)
