Pampanga Guv Calls for Unity, Love Among Cabalens in USA

Los Angeles, CA— Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” urged all Capampangan Leaders based in the United States to help the provincial government unite all true-blooded Capampangans living in California to come together and love one another as they struggle to work hard for their communities and families in Pampanga.

“It would be so beautiful to witness the love, unity and cooperation among you our cabalens here in the States! You live so far from your home country, all the more reason for you to forms strong bonds, to further strengthen the Capampangan spirit and make it shine even more in the US of A,” Pineda told Capampangans who attended the December 3 Pampanga Day Celebration in USA.

This call of the governor came in the heels of reports that Capampangan leaders in California are allegedly divided due to individual and personal differences.

Reports have it that the United Pampanga Leaders Council (UPLC) headed by it chair Chito Mandap and President Ed Ronquillo are not seeing eye to eye with the commissioners of Pampanga Day Celebration Commission (PDCC) headed by Mike Cucueco and Larry Pelayo.

With this, the governor encouraged them to mend their fences that divide them by forgiving and forgetting what the governor described as simple issues that made them divided.

“Nung eyu agawang misanmetung at mikalugud, at agawa ing tune kabaldugan ning  ‘Kapampangan ku, Kaluguran naku ning Guinu, miabe-abe, mikakalugud tamu.’ Tuknangan tane pung kakanta,” Pineda said. (If we cannot unite and we cannot love one another and live the true meaning of “ We are Capampangans, God loves us, we come together and we love one another,” let us stop singing this line, Pineda said.)

Despite individual differences, if we worked towards the same goal, we can win over challenges. Enhance this with prayers to our Lord, implore His mercy and divine guidance, there is no way we can not succeed.

The Province of Pampanga, she said has so many tremendous problems that need to be resolved particularly in health, education, livelihood, environment, among others. Hence, the incumbent Capampangan leaders in the province are standing as one and united setting aside their political issues and differences.

“Kung nagawa po naming magkaisa sa Pampanga, kaya din po nating magkaisa dito sa America dahil malayo po tayo sa ating mga kapamilya,” the governor said.

“Caring for one another so that no one among our cabalens here , far away from your loved ones in the home country, will not have to encounter undue hardships,” Pineda said.

The governor said the assistance that they give to fellow Capampangans will all the more be meaningful if it is given by hands and hearts that work and feel as one.

“ I, your governor, sincerely pray and wish that you become united. I hope to be able to touch your hearts. I invite you to come together as one group bonded by love, perseverance and generosity,” she told Capampangans in USA.

The governor said she left behind in the province some very important concerns and activities but she could not pass up the chance of being with the “cabalens” , interacting with them, and exchanging stories and insights about their life here and our life in the Philippines. And about what they all can do to lead the province to progress.

Let us forget and put off the road blocks to progress. Let us be united in walking a long difficult road to better life, to the resolutions of all our problems.

“In the same manner, all of you here in the United States of America, our beloved “cabalens”, we know that you’ve worked hard – doubled, even tripled your efforts – which led to the successful life that you have here,” Pineda told cabalens.

Especially if you unite – all of you our “cabalens” here – a united and big group of Capampangans can create a strong impact on the lives of our people back home. You could serve as role models worthy of emulation.

Lastly, the governor assured her full support and that of the provincial government of Pampanga.

“Let us all bond securely like a high quality broomstick – our strength, our knowledge, our love and our desire to see the development of the Capampangan race,” she added.

Pray for CGMA

The governor asked the “cabalens” in the United States to join them in praying for  former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and now second district congresswoman.

“ Let us pray that she recovers from her ailment, that she regains her strength and that she be able to face up to the challenges that have come her way. And that the truth shall prevail and justice will be served,” she said. (Joel Mapiles – PIO)
