STA. RITA, Pampanga – Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda and Mayor Yolanda Pineda led the signing of contract with Magnolia Ice Cream executives at the Municipal Conference Room here Wednesday.
The contract stipulates that this town would serve as the supplier of the famous Pampanga Pinipig used as the key ingredient in Magnolia’s new ice cream flavor, Pinipig Pandan.
According to Mauricio Alcon, general manager of Magnolia Ice Cream, Pampanga Pinipig was chosen out of four other ingredients because of its unique taste complementing the ice cream’s pandan flavor.
Roy imperial, consultant to the governor, spearheaded and introduced the project to Pineda and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan which was consequently welcomed by the provincial leaders.
Brand Manager Pinky Custodio shared, Pampanga joins Davao (Durian Pastillas) and Palawan (Caramel Cashew) in completing the new flavors of the Best of the Philippines ice cream line.
“We thank Gov. Pineda for introducing us to this great Kapampangan delicacy greatly helping us in our campaign to promote the unique flavors of the Philippines,” Custodio added.
Meanwhile, Mayor Pineda expressed enthusiasm for the new project which will surely benefit the people of this town.
“This is great news for the Pinipig makers here, not only will this promote our famous delicacy but will also serve as an additional livelihood for the people of Sta. Rita,” the younger Pineda added.
Further, Governor Pineda thanked the Magnolia executives for choosing the Pampanga Pinipig for their new ice cream flavor.
“After so many years, finally we have our own ice cream flavor we can proudly offer to tourists as well as to our fellow Kapampangans,” the governor gladly declared.
