CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda announced yesterday that the province of Pampanga will be sending a donation of P2 million to the victims of typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City and other parts of Northern Mindanao.
This latest donation comes from contributions made by the department heads and more than 2000 employees of the provincial capitol.
Earlier, with the initiative of Governor Lilia G. Pineda and the Pampanga Mayors’ League headed by Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo, the province donated 500 pieces of coffins to be used for the many dead bodies left by the typhoon’s aftermath.
Pampanga, particularly Sto. Tomas town, known as coffins capital of the Philippines was able to respond to the need for coffins in the typhoon-ravaged areas in Mindanao.
The governor continues to encourage various sectors to contribute any amount or any form of donation to help the thousands of individuals who lost their loved ones and were rendered homeless by the typhoon.
In addition to this, it was also learned that the members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pampanga will make voluntary contributions to add to the typhoon donation funds.
(Pampanga PIO)
