Pampanga Dental Bus to serve remote areas next month

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government’s new Dental Bus will soon bring oral health services to Pampanga’s remote areas, officials here disclosed recently.

According to Dr. Thricia Sunglao of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Pampanga is very fortunate to be one of the 15 provinces awarded with dental buses by the Department of Health.

Sunglao said the dental bus will be sent to the province’s remote areas at least once a week starting this March to provide oral health services to underprivileged Kapampangans and those not reached by dental service providers.

“This is in line with the thrusts of Governor Pineda’s extensive health programs,” she stressed.

PHO Officer in charge Dr. Antonio “Jay” Rivera also expressed his gratitude to health secretary Janet Garin for choosing Pampanga as one of the beneficiaries of the European Union-funded program.

Dr. Rivera believes, the provincial government of Pampanga was chosen by the health department as one of the recipients of the first batch of dental mobile clinics for its diligence in delivering comprehensive health services for Kapampangans.

Instead of the usual procedure wherein patients are asked to visit rural health units, district hospitals, or the Capitol to avail of free dental services, the Pampanga Dental Bus will now visit remote areas to bring the services to the community.

The new bus is equipped with two state-of-the-art dental chair capable of providing complete and mobile oral health service.

“Governor Pineda instructed us to fully utilize the mobile dental clinic and bring oral health services closer to Kapampangans especially those who can’t afford to acquire such services,” Rivera said.
