Pampanga, 10 towns bag Good Governance award

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Provincial Government of Pampanga, its ten towns and two cities received on Thursday the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award 2016 given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The municipalities awarded with the same recognition are Apalit, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Magalang, Mexico, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon, and Santa Ritatowns and the cities of San Fernando and Mabalacat.

DILG-3 Director Florida Dijan said that out of 1,672 local government units assessed nationwide, only 306 met the 2016 SGLG criteria.

“To be conferred with the SGLG, a LGU must pass three core criteria namely financial administration, disaster preparedness, and social protection as well as any of the following essential criteria: business friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, and environmental protection,” she added.

In addition to that, winners are also given Performance Challenge Fund as an incentive to further intensify the implementation of local development projects.

According to DILG-Pampanga Director Myrvi Fabia, this is truly an achievement to be proud of because the department heads of the provincial government made sure that all the documents needed are true and authentic.
