City of San Fernando ~ The provincial government of Pampanga, two cities and 10 municipal local government units (LGUs) have been conferred with Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) recently.
Myrvi Fabia, provincial director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said SGLG is an award given to any province and its municipalities that have reached the standard measures of compliance of the Full Disclosure Policy particularly in the areas of budget, revenues, procurement and having no adverse audit findings.
Aside from Pampanga government, other SGLG awardees are the towns of Apalit, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Magalang, Mexico, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon, Sta Rita and the cities of San Fernando and Mabalacat.
Fabia stressed that Pampanga is a consistent awardee of Seal of Good Housekeeping since 2012 before it was changed to SGLG in 2015.
In 2015, Pampanga was among the topnotch provinces for having garnered nine SGLGs including eight towns and cities.
“There is honor and pride in receiving the Seal of Good Local Governance in which the DILG perceived the province as excellent and trustworthy,” Fabia said.
According to Fabia, among the 362 LGUs, only 23 out of 80 provinces had received the SGLG and Central Luzon ranked as the second highest region to receive SGLG out of the 18 regions in the Philippines.
Winners of the SGLG are entitled to receive Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) amounting to P7 million for province, P5 million for city and P3 million PCF for municipality.
The SGLG award opens opportunities to LGU awardees considering the grants and privileges for their priority projects in their respective areas of jurisdiction given by the national government and the international community.
