Nanay Gov appeals to village chiefs: ensure people’s safety

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda appealed to the barangay officials of Masantol and Macabebe towns to ensure the safety of the people and protect their lives and properties in their respective communities whether government officials or ordinary people.
This was gleaned in an emergency meeting called by the governor yesterday enjoining all barangay officials from the said municipalities to work hard for the maintenance of peace and order.
“When we won, we pledged to the people before God that we will do our best to protect them and make sure that our communities would become ideal haven of peace and prosperity.
The governor instructed the barangay executives to take the lead in the prevention of criminalities in their areas of jurisdiction.
“When you decided to serve as public servants, your life is dedicated to protect the safety of your people,” she said.
The governor lamented that she was saddened by the recent spate of killings in Porac, Masantol and Macabebe involving  a municipal employees, newly elected barangay chief and an ordinary family man.
It can be recalled that in Macabebe, San Jose Village Chief Danilo Manalang also a former Public Works and Highways regional director in Bicol died after a gunman on a motorbike shot him last Tuesday.
In Porac, a member of Aniban ng Nakakaisang Mamamayan ng Hacienda Dolores identified as Arman Padinio was killed and three others were injured in a clash over the disputed land in Barangay Hacienda Dolores over the weekend.
