CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Third District Board Member Monina “Monz” Laus, chairperson of the Committee on Health has worked for the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan resolution allocating P300,000 budget for the purchase of digital thermometers.
Relative to this, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) will tap the public elementary school teachers to act as front liners and responders in the fight against dengue through regular monitoring of the health condition of the students.
Dr. Marcelo Jaochico, PHO officer said most of the children are staying in school for almost eight hours a day, hence, teachers could be utilized for health monitoring.
“Hinihingi namin sa mga guro na sila ang magmonitor sa kalagayan ng mga bata lalo na iyong mukhang may karamdaman upang agad silang maagapan”, he said.
Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda said she will instruct the PHO to distribute the digital thermometer to all grade levels in public elementary schools in the province by the end of July.
“We will advise the teachers to check the temperature of the students before and after class for any possible changes in their health condition”, Dr. Jaochico said.
The PHO officer added, if they discover something irregular, the concerned teachers could immediately advise the parents and take the students to the nearest rural health unit or district hospital.
“Importante talaga ang agarang pagdidistribute ng mga thermometer sa mga eskwela upang di na dumami pa ang mga biktima ng dengue”, she said. (Jenna Lumbang, PIO Pampanga)
