Korean envoy boosts partnership between Koreans and Kapampangans

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – To further strengthen the relationship between Kapampangans and Koreans, newly appointed Republic of Korean Ambassador to Philippines Lee Hyuk visited Pampanga.
Ambassador Lee met with Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda to talk about the intention of the Korean government to fortify their affiliation in ensuring the protection of 15, 000 Koreans in the province particularly in Angeles City as well as the Kapampangans in Korea.
For her part Gov. Pineda lauded the courtesy extended by the Koreans. This according to her proved the good relationship that exists between the province and their country.
She added Korea has opened doors of opportunities to the Kapampangans who seek to work  abroad.
“Korea is one of the countries who welcomed and opened their doors for Kapampangan skilled workers,” said Pineda
Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Luningning Vergara disclosed that based on the Philippine Overseas Employment Services Office (POEA) there are 6, 056 Kapampangan in Korea since 2003.
“Since 2003 we have been sending Kapampangan workers in Korea and there are no records of abuse reported to our cabalens,” Vergara stated.
Vergara mentioned that of more than 6000 Kapampangans in Korea 3, 636 are assisted by the the provincial government through Korean Language Training conducted by PESO.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Lee cited Kapampangan workers when it comes to their work ethics.
