MABALACAT CITY — A Kapampangan doctor donated yesterday a 1-hectare of land to give way for the rise of P10-million Mabalacat City College extension at Barangay Dapdap, this city which would cater for the educational needs of the poor but deserving students who are residents of Madapdap, Sta. Lucia and San Isidro resettlements, nearby villages located in this city and Magalang town.
Dr. Rolando R. Buan, a Cabalen resident of Wisconsin in the United States of America said he acknowledged the donation of a parcel of land beside the Madapdap Resettlement where the city college will be built.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by this singular act of giving back to our community. I am happy that my donation is intended and dedicated to the education of the young people; the up and coming generations who will take over for us. These people who one day may lead; help govern and participate in providing a good life for the people of Mabalacat and beyond,” Buan said.
The land donor added that the proposed city college will help inspire the children to reach for the ‘stars’ and aim high. “It is well known fact that to improve one’s life and help family and to compete nowadays, one must be well educated,” he said.
The donation was facilitated by the Fiesta Communities, incorporated, a leader in socialized housing development in Central Luzon led by Willie Tan, company’s president and chief executive officer, Mariano G. Tan, comptrollership of Fiesta Communities and Attorney Ryan Tan, corporate secretary of Hausland Development Corporation (HLDC).
The signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) among Dr. Buan – the land donor, Willie Tan – land developer and Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales was witnessed by 1st District Board Members Crisostomo Garbo, Cherry Manalo, Vice Mayor Christian Halili and members of the city council held at Mabalacat City hall yesterday.
In the same day, the land donor and the developer including the local officials of this city paid a courtesy call to Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ G. Pineda who countersigned the MOA at the provincial Capitol.
The governor said the provincial government is meant to construct a building for the city college which will eventually cater the young students in the said resettlements and nearby villages.
Pineda said the proposed city college will respond to the escalating need for affordable and quality education and with its expansion more educational chances and opportunities will be given to deserving students through private and public partnership.
Tan said through this future development, homeowners of Fiesta communities in Dapdap is also given a privilege of easy access to education with its proximity to the school.
