In Observance of Mt. Pinatubo’s 21st Anniversary — Gov’t Work, Classes in Pampanga Suspended on Friday

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government, through Acting Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao, has released Executive Order No. 08-2012 declaring a suspension of work in all government offices and classes in all schools throughout the province this coming Friday, June 15, in observance of the 21st Anniversary of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

Guiao stressed, however, that private companies and institutions are not included in the suspension stated in the Executive Order.

The declaration of work suspension for private businesses in Pampanga lies solely on their discretion. It is a regular work day, unless otherwise stated by their respective management.

Guiao also emphasized the significance of this event for Pampanga and its people.

More than two decades after the catastrophic explosion of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, the Kapampangan province had shown the country and the world its resiliency and determination to overcome the trials brought about by the calamity.

Currently, the provincial government, through the leadership of Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, turned the devastating lahar and ashes into a lucrative source of income for the province, thus citizens now enjoy exemplary growth and development in the province. (Angelique D. Tuazon, Pampanga PIO)
