CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda commanded mayors of cities and municipalities to encourage the voters to vote wisely and reject those involved in illegal drugs in the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls.

So said Governor Pineda to local chief executives during the Joint Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council Meeting held at Kingsborough International Convention Center here.

During the meeting, the governor stressed that the barangay needs barangay officials who are true to their mission on fighting illegal drugs and other crimes in the province.

She added that mayors should avoid endorsing candidates who have a history of involvement in illegal drugs, whether it be buying, selling, or protecting suspects.

“Yung filing, malapit na lang. Kausapin ninyo sino yung former drug addict, pusher pati yung nagpoprotekta na huwag nang pahabulin. Dapat hindi na sila pwedeng magfile. Kayo ang chief executive ng bayan. Mahirap na kung kahit SK naging involve sa drugs,” she said.

The governor added that the barangay and SK elections should be peaceful and orderly as much as possible. She also asked the help of the police and the local government units in attaining peaceful elections.

Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Pampanga commended the Provincial Government for being the top performer in Mamamayang Ayaw SA Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw SA Iligal na Droga (MASA MASID) program where all 505 barangays of the province have organized MASA MASID Teams.
