Guv lauds PNoy, DSWD for assistance to Cabalens

Governor Lilia G. Pineda lauded President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino as she expressed the provincial government’s gratitude for the close to P130 million national government’s special project augmentation funds which would benefit thousands of senior citizens, farmers and fisherfolks, malnourished children and landslide victims in Pampanga.

This developed during the recent program launching and distribution of the social pension for senior citizens jointly sponsored by the provincial government and the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) headed by Director Adelina Apostol.

Pineda acknowledged that the P127,698,905.00 special project augmentation funds which the Aquino administration recently granted to the province would greatly benefit the various needy sectors in the province.

“This is a continuing project of the national government which would surely benefit our constituents, and in behalf of the provincial capitol officials, I would like to thank the President, DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman and Director Adelina Apostol,” the governor said in the vernacular.

Together with Apostol, the Governor distributed P1,500.00 each to the 894 qualified senior citizens from various municipalities of the province as their social pensions for the first quarter of this year.

A total of P5,364,000.00 funds were allocated for the social pensions of qualified senior citizens in the province this year, Apostol said.

She added that P45,930,835.00 were allocated for the supplemental feeding of 28,171 malnourished children in various municipalities of the province from June to December this year.

Meanwhile, rice subsidies through the cash for work program amounting to P22,044,022.00 were allocated to 7,007 farmers and fisherfolks.  This program would run for 11 days from May to June during which the beneficiaries would be receiving P286 each per day of work rendered for their rice subsidy.

Apostol further said that under the national government’s Pantawid Pamilya Program, P42,066,788.00 were allocated for the 4,026 indigent families in the municipalities of Porac, Floridablanca, Candaba and Angeles City.

More so, P393,240.00 were allocated for the continuing relief assistance to the 58 families in Arayat, all victims of the landslide caused by typhoon Ondoy sometime in 2009.

Aside from the relief assistance program, the national government also allotted P11,900,000.00 as core shelter assistance for the said 58 family-victims of the landslide.

Provincial Board Members Monina Laus, Trina Dizon, Fritzie David-Dizon, Nestor Tolentino, Cris Garbo, Teresito Lingad and Salvador Dimson,Jr. joined the program launching together with Social Welfare Officer Elizabeth Baybayin.  (Pampanga PIO)
