CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Governor Lilia G. Pineda has expressed optimism that the newly formed 1st junk shop federation officers will serve as deterrent to criminals.
This developed as the governor led the oath-taking of the newly formed federation of junk shop owners in the province as they pledged full support to the governor and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in curbing criminality and illegal activities.
The governor was joined by Provincial Director Police Senior Superintendent Edgardo Tinio, members of the Provincial Board, and members of the police force Monday at the Bale Katimawan in Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO) compound. The governor commended the PPO and the junkshop owners for the inception of their federation.
“Criminal elements will now be hesitant to steal communication cables and metal parts since they can no longer sell them in junk shops here in Pampanga,” the governor declared.
Pineda added that this initiative reflects the PPO’s commitment to keep our province in order.
The governor also recognized the junk shops’ role in the proper solid waste management on the barangay level. “Katuwang rin namin kayo sa tamang pagkolekta ng basura. Magtulungan po tayo,” Pineda appealed to junk shop owners.
Tinio, in his welcome remarks, acknowledged the junk shop owners’ federation’s contribution in the crime prevention and the anti-criminality program of the PNP.
“Crime prevention is everybody’s concern. Maraming hamon tayong kinakaharap,” Tinio urged.
The provincial director also reminded that junkshop operators who are proved to be buying stolen items like communication cables and metal parts of road signs will also be charged. ( Angelique DC. Tuazon, PIO Pampanga)
