Gov Wants Competent Hospital Employees

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Gov. Lilia Pineda instructed the chiefs of the provincial and 10 district hospitals to evaluate the capabilities and competency of their employees to ensure the quality of service of the capitol-operated medical institutions.

In a meeting, the governor instructed the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Marcelo Jaochico and Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO) Amelia Bondoc to evaluate again the employees in hospitals especially health care personnel like the nurses, pharmacists, medical technicians and doctors.

Her directive is to terminate the contracts of all personnel who will not pass the competency evaluation that will determine their capabilities in handling different medical cases, attitude towards patients, expertise, attendance, and efficiency.

“The handle the life and health of the people. We should replace personnel who do not meet the standard and qualities of a medical personnel working in a government hospital. We need people who can work with dedication and enthusiasm while serving the needy and the less fortunate,” said Pineda.

Gov. Pineda also asked the chiefs of hospitals to submit weekly performance report on the hospital operation and the regular assessment of the work performance of the employees.

“In government service, it is not right that you do not mind what is happening in your area of responsibility. You should know the number of admitted patients, their cases, mortality and survival rates and problems of encountered, and areas that need improvements, “the governor told them.

She also instructed the chiefs of hospitals, PHO and HRMO to set higher standards and be careful in employing new personnel and medical professionals.

“Do a background check of all applicants for our provincial and district hospitals. Look at their employment records”, she said.
