CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–In a bid to intensify the fight against dengue, Governor Lilia Pineda has called upon the barangay task forces to address the growing concerns on the mosquito-borne disease and its eradication.
According to reports, the total number of dengue patients admitted in the eleven district hospitals of the province has equaled to 552 as of October 22, 2015.
Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital has a total of 64 dengue patients; Domingo B. Flores Memorial Hospital, 66; Dr. Andres J. Luciano District Hospital, 39; Dr. Emigdio C. Cruz Sr. Memorial Hsopital, 34; Escolastica Romero District Hospital 75; Jose Songco Lapid District Hospital, 25; Mabalacat District Hospital 55, Ricardo P. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital Annex 12; Ricardo P. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital-Main,37; Roman Pangan District Hospital 62; and San Luis District Hospital, 83.
Governor Pineda has once said, that she already requested the barangay officials and health workers to coordinate with the Provincial Government on the creation of these barangay task forces which will focus on resolving the growing dengue problem in the province.
The governor also stated that these barangay task forces will help in organizing blood donors ready on standby whenever need arises.
“Nagpapahanap ako ng 200 malusog na blood donor na pwedeng mag-donate ng dugo para direktang maisalin sa pasyente”, the governor remarked.
It can be recalled that a blood-letting activity was held last October 2 to raise more blood for the increasing number of dengue patients.
The governor has also considered the proposed blood networking program of Capitol she discussed with the health officials whose funds will be drawn from the provincial government’s P50-million calamity fund.
Governor Pineda also assigned the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in the clean-up drive of barangays and destroy all possible mosquito breeding places.
This resulted in conducting a massive clean-up drive as per governor’s instruction to the chiefs of the province’s 505 villages in their respective barangays.
