Gov supports all-out war against drugs

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda has vowed support to PNP Region 3 Director PC/Supt. Rudy G. Lacadin’s declaration of an all-out war against drug peddlers and cease the perennial drug problem in Central Luzon.

“Let’s think of other techniques that will effectively eradicate the drug menace in the province”, the governor stressed.

In a meeting with the Peace and Order Council recently, Lacadin denounced the current strategies being applied by the authorities and the justice system as ineffective.

“If you fail to maintain peace and order there is something wrong with your police not with the community not with the government,” Lacadin said.

“There are drug lords who have already been incarcerated in Bilibid and yet they continue their illegal drug dealings. Something is wrong with our justice system,” he added.

The PNP director revealed that once the concept is launched, the involvement and maximum participation of the community, the media, the LGU’s and the police should be realized, where everyone can participate and report a crime at an instant.

“With joined hands, he said, we could hunt these drug syndicates down or else the future generation will inherit the same problems repeatedly.”

Similarly, Bataan PNP Provincial Director PS/Supt. Rodel Orden Sermonia shared their conceptualization of the “Game Changer’s Strategy” or the multi-sectoral approach in fighting against illegal drugs.

This involves all government agencies, LGU’s, ABC presidents, chiefs, law enforcement agencies, all sectors of the community, including women, farmers, laborers and others.

Sermonia also stressed out to the chiefs of police that it is prohibited to file a case under Section 11 alone but rather Sections 5 and 11 all together to dissuade collusion among the investigating team.

Among the other best practices they execute in Bataan include the creation of anti-illegal drug reduction conveners, multi-sectoral shame campaign rallies, Balik-loob program, Bahay Pag-asa Reformation Center and revitalization of the Barangay Anti-drug abuse Council.
