CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda has strengthened the organization of corn growers throughout the province to intensify the comprehensive and integrated delivery of farm assistance of the provincial and national government and non-government organizations (NGOs).
This was gleaned during the meeting of Governor Pineda yesterday with the various groups of corn growers and producers from different municipalities at the Executive House of the Capitol.
The governor has instructed the corn growers from the municipalities and city to activate their groups and they will form part of the provincial federation of corn growers.
According to the governor, the grouping of corn growers will facilitate the delivery of assistance from the government such as farm inputs, farm mechanization, and crop insurance.
Also, the farmers would have a support group which they can rely on it times of difficulties or when they face any mishaps in their production.
“With this we can also prevent farmers or corn producers from getting abused by buyers offering unreasonable prices for their products,” Governor Pineda noted.
The governor also introduced to the corn producers Board Members Rosve Henson and Anthony Joseph Torres, the vice chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and chairman of the Committee on Trade and Industry, respectively.
“They will be the ones to assist you from the provincial government’s side, along with BM Ferdinand Labung who is the chair of the Committee on Agriculture,” the governor added.
Apart from this, the provincial government is currently coordinating with the Land Bank of the Philippines for the scheming of flexible loan programs that could be availed by the Kapampangan farmers.
“This is just the first of many meetings with you. On my second term I will be focusing more on agriculture and the needs of Kapampangan farmers,” Pineda shared.
