Gov Pineda distributes 4K food packs to families in Sasmuan, Lubao coastal brgys

SASMUAN, Pampanga – Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda distributed on Tuesday 4,038 food packs to affected coastal barangays in Sasmuan and Lubao towns.

Governor Pineda, along with 2nd District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, Sasmuan Mayor Catalina Cabrera, Lubao Mayor Esmeralda Pineda, Lubao Vice Mayor Jay Montemayor, Special Assistant to the Governor and PDRRM Chief Angelina Blanco, and Acting PSWDO Head Fe Manarang ferried to coastal areas and led the distribution of food packs to affected families.

Some 3,223 food packs were distributed to affected residents in Sasmuan which include Barangays Sebitanan (754), Malusac (1,020), Batang 1st (121), Batang 2nd (897), and Mabuanbuan (431).

The Governor also distributed 815 food packs to Lubao barangays including Bangcal Pugad (523) and Bangcal Sinubli (292).

“Pagpasensayahan niyo na po muna ang tulong na ito. Alam ko po hindi enough, pero ang importante makapag-initial sa lahat ng bayan o barangay na apektado. Pakiusap ko po sa mga barangay captains, huwag istand-by yung goods at ipamigay agad sa mga affected (We understand that this assistance might fall short of the full extent of your needs. What is important is the immediate distribution to address the initial needs of all the affected towns and barangays. I kindly urge the barangay captains not to hold back relief goods, but to distribute them promptly among the affected population),” he said.

Following his visits to the coastal areas, Governor Pineda extended his efforts to include other severely flooded towns in his food pack distribution, including Sta. Ana (3,000), Apalit (5,000), and Guagua (6,000).

Last Monday, July 31 the governor placed Pampanga in a state of calamity due to flooding and damages caused by the southwest monsoon that was enhanced by Tropical Cyclones Egay and Falcon.

Based on the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reports, the provincial government already provided food assistance to heavily flood stricken towns including Porac, Arayat, Candaba, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon, Sto. Tomas, and the City of San Fernando.
