The trophy for the Best Public Employment Services Office (PESO) and Best Local Chief Executive (LCE) award was presented to Governor Lilia G. Pineda during the flag raising program earlier today (Monday, Oct. 17) by Assistant Regional Director Geraldine Panlilio of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region III.
The governor thanked the provincial PESO manager Luningning Vergara, managers of municipal PESOs and all provincial capitol employees whose support, she said, was instrumental in the province getting the award on the national level, not just this year, but last year as well.
“Hindi ko magagawa ito kung hindi dahil sa inyong suporta, kaya ipagpatuloy sana natin ang pagtutulungan upang manatili ang magandang performance ng probinsya.”
The province won the same award last year and the governor said that this poses an even “bigger challenge for all of us to win a grand slam and get a place in the award’s hall of fame”.
Vergara, for her part, attributed this recognition to the full support of the governor to PESO programs, assistance of the DOLE and the cooperation of municipal PESOs. She also called on some municipal PESOs who attended the program and presented them to the governor and the capitol employees.
Panlilio, on the other hand, commended the administration of Governor Pineda because “it has always been supportive of PESO programs” and singled out the “initiative and creativity of PESO managers in implementing projects that help provide skills and livelihood employment to constituents”.
The provincial board members also expressed appreciation for the award and vowed continuing support for PESO programs that are designed to help more people generate income and improve their lives. Among the board members present were Tars Halili, chairman of the committee on labor and employment, Monina Laus, Fritzie David-Dizon, and Trina Dizon.
The governor challenged everyone present to continue doing their share, not just to get awards, but to actually improve the lives of our people.
“Hayaan nating magsilbing inspirasyon ang ganitong mga award upang maitaas ang antas ng pamumuhay sa ating lalawigan.” (Pampanga PIO)
