Gov Delta lauds DSWD for P9.6 M assistance to farmers affected by monsoon rains

CANDABA, Pampanga- Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda lauded President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos Jr. and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for providing P9.6 million in financial assistance to a total of 1,883 farmers affected by recent monsoon rains in this town on Thursday, October 12.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian was represented by Undersecretary Diane Cajipe, who led the distribution along with Governor Delta, Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque, Board Member Pol Balingit, Special Assistant to the Governor and PDRRM Chief Angelina Blanco, and Acting PSWDO Fe Manarang at Pacoma Covered Court, Brgy Pare in this town.

The farmer-beneficiaries from the town received P5,175 each from DSWD through the agency’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.

According to DSWD, this second batch of beneficiaries is part of the 5,763 farmers in the province whose crops were damaged by the monsoon rains brought by Typhoon Egay in July, this year.

“We are here in Candaba to give Emergency Cash Transfer to those who were affected by the typhoon Egay and Falcon. We would see to it, na bumababa po tayo para makita po yung mga kababayan po natin. Napakasaya po kasi kahit po sila ay affected po ng mga disaster na ganito, you can still see the resilience of the Filipino people. The Government is doing their best para maibigay po yung tulong sa kanila,” said Cajipe.

Governor Pineda expressed his gratitude to the President and pledged continued support for the administration’s programs.

“Isa po to sa mga tulong mula kay Presidente na ibinibigay niya para sa mga magsasaka. Alam ko po hindi po sapat ito, pero ang importante po tayong mga Kapampangan may nakukuha tayong parte sa mga tulong na ibinibigay ng national government. Iikot pa po tayo sa buong lalawigan para mamigay ng tulong mula sa ating Presidente,” said governor pineda.

In addition to the assistance provided, Mayor Maglanque also expressed gratitude to the President for distributing seedlings to replace the farmers’ damaged crops.

Last August, 2,293 farmers in the towns of San Luis and Apalit also received the same assistance from DSWD.

The AICS-ECT program aims to deliver immediate disaster relief, humanitarian response, and early recovery aid by offering disaster and emergency victims unconditional cash assistance.
