Just like her past visits to the Aeta communities in Porac and Floridablanca towns, Governor Lilia G. Pineda recently delivered food items and various goodies even as she committed the implementation of various development projects in the area.
In her most recent visit to barangay Sapang Uwak in upland Porac, the governor, together with Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon and other officials of the provincial government, distributed rice, canned goods, noodles and other food items to 314 Aeta families in the area.
In her dialogue with the community leaders, the governor also enjoined the indigenous peoples to participate in the forthcoming 25th anniversary celebration of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption, them being the first victims of the volcano eruption in June 1991.
More so, the chief provincial executive would like the 150 upland residents of barangay Camachile and 167 Aetas of Mawacat to join the 314 participants from Sapang Uwak in the said celebration.
“You were among the first families affected and economically displaced by the Pinatubo eruption, thus, it is but proper that you participate in the celebration,” the governor told them.
She even promised to provide them with cooking utensils, bedding items, cosmetics and grooming products, haircut services including costumes for their cultural presentation for the said celebration.
The governor also acknowledged the Aetas’ contribution in the preservation and protection of our environment and informed them that the provincial government is set to start an agro-forestry project in barangay Sapang Uwak wherein the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) will spearhead the planting of fruit bearing trees in the said community.
Likewise, she also instructed the Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) to assist the Aetas in the repair and rehabilitation of their dwellings under the food for work scheme.
She also enjoined the family members, the children especially, to take their baths daily and observe proper hygiene and sanitation as she ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the water pumps in the area.
Porac Mayor Condralito dela Cruz, Vice-Mayor Dexter David and Sapang Uwak Barangay Captain Solis Palo expressed their gratitude to the governor and the provincial government officials for continuously looking after the welfare and concerns of the Aeta communities in the municipality. (Pampanga PIO)
