FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga – Gov. Lilia Pineda is bent on meeting her fellow local candidates in all municipalities and cities in the province to appease and make an appeal for the maintenance of peace and order especially this election.
In a command conference held in Nabuclod, Floridablanca attended by the provincial police officers and chiefs of police (COPs), the governor disclosed her plan to pacify the opposing candidates and parties who are tossing horrendous statement and issues against each other and she will also ask them to cooperate in the promotion of peaceful election.
“With the presence of the town’s chief of police, I will personally seek the mutual support of the mayoral and vice mayoral candidates to ensure that no one will get hurt because of the election,” Pineda said.
Pineda said she will also ask the poll bets to avoid mudslinging and character assassination as campaign strategy because these things might provoke resentment to the other candidates and supporters.
“From the very beginning, I’ve been appealing to all candidates and their camp to stay away from dirty tactics in campaigning. The people are responsible and intelligent enough. If you are a contender just present your good plans and platforms, for incumbent show your accomplishments,” she said.
Gov. Pineda has been meeting different sectors, barangay officials and tanods in the province since the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) declared Pampanga as one of the fifteen hot spot provinces this May 2013 elections.
“We have to prove to them that Kapampangans are not violent and we are united in the promotion of peaceful election,” she told them.
Police Senior Superintendent ‘Rwin Pagkalinawan said the initiative of the governor is very effective in instilling in the minds and consciousness of the people their big role in observing peace and order in their respective area.
“The PNP and the people should work together if we really want to achieve peaceful election. And we are optimistic that the Kapampangan will follow the appeal of the governor,” said Pagkalinawan.
Pineda said she advocates that no person, no candidate shall perish because of the election.
