Farmers get P63-M worth of farm equipment, livestock

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Pampanga Provincial Office of Agriculturist (OPA) in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) recently distributed P63-million worth of farm machinery and livestock to Kapampangan farm associations.

Vice- Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda together with OPA Chief Ed Salenga led the turnover rites of the farm equipment to the farmers’ associations, cooperatives and irrigators held at the Provincial Engineer’s Office.

The beneficiaries received 10 rice combined harvesters, 19 mini tractors, 20 irrigation pump sets, five rice threshers, 45 carabaos and 5 cows.

According to Salenga, the distribution of the farm implements is part of the farm mechanization program of the DA that aims to advance the rice and corn production in the province.

The farm equipment are beneficial to the farmers as they are useful during planting and harvesting season, Salenga added.

The vice-governor also reminded the farmers to maintain the agricultural machinery for the common use of all the farmer-beneficiaries.

The farmers, meanwhile, lauded the provincial government for their utmost support to the agricultural sector.

Others who assisted in the distribution were 1st District Board Members Cherry Manalo and Benjamin Jocson, 3rd District Board Members Ananias “Jun” Canlas and Rosve Henson, 4th District Board Members Pol Balingit and Nelson Calara and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office Chief Angie Blanco.
