E-Library Launched at Pampanga Capitol

The Pampanga Provincial Library now houses the Pisces Library Automation System or the E-Library Hub Program as a step to facilitate learning in all levels of the education sector.

This developed as the E-Library Hub Program was launched yesterday with Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo as guest of honor and together with Governor Lilia G. Pineda cut the ceremonial ribbon and unveiled the program marker.

“Kinikilala natin ang mahalagang tulong ng information technology sa lahat ng antas ng pag-aaral, upang mapabilis ito at mapadali,” the governor declared, thus, the acquisition of the E-Library Hub Information System.

Robredo and Pineda also took a look at the 10 units of the latest personal computers housed at the second floor of the provincial library and tried a hands on demonstration of the workings of the system.

Bessie D. Makabali, provincial librarian, said the project aims to gradually transform the province into an IT based globalized realm.

The focal persons that saw to the project’s installation were Vice-Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao and Arthur Punsalan of the Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO). They described the system as a computerized management tool for monitoring and managing library items and is designed to provide fast and efficient way of monitoring the library inventory system.

Makabali said the system also incorporates internet ready resources that allows access to students a variety of learning resources, immediacy to information, anytime collaborative learning, multi-media approach to education, and authentic up-to-date information.

Both the DILG Secretary and the governor were glad to see that aside from the 10 PCs, the program also incorporates a 35-piece set of Department of Education (DepEd) evaluated multi-media software package that can be utilized by teachers and student for their school activities.

It also provides teachers with powerful, but simple-to-use tools to diagnose track and report on student knowledge and progress.

The governor expressed the hope that the efforts of the provincial government and its constituents will initiate a better and changed educational system for the future leaders of the country. (PIO Pampanga)
