CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Gov. Lilia Pineda and Director Leonita Gorgolon of the Center for Health and Development III signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) granting P8, 550,000 financial aid to the capitol-operated hospitals for the medical assistance to indigent patients.
The Department of Health (DOH) has been providing assistance to indigent patients seeking consultation or being admitted to government hospitals through the Medical Health Care Assistance Program (MHCAP).
In the province, the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital and other seven district hospitals received the grant, namely: Ricardo P Rodriguez Memorial Hospital, Dr. Emigdio Cruz Memorial Hospital, Mabalacat District Hospital, Dr. Andres Luciano Memorial Hospital, Romana Pangan District Hospital, Macabebe District Hospital and San Luis District Hospital.
Gov. Lilia Pineda said the provincial government will implement MHCAP at the hospital level through the Medical Social Welfare Department.
The capitol is also expected to facilitate the provision of approved medical assistance to eligible patients.
“The provincial government will ensure the availability of the drugs and medicines, medical supplies and other health care services needed by the patients eligible of the assistance,” said Pineda.
Director Gorgolon said the grant was awarded to the province because of the intensive and zealousness of the health care program of the Pineda Administration.
“DOH awards financial medical assistance to local government unit who has serious health care programs just like here in Pampanga,” she said.
Further, Pineda expressed gratitude to DOH for the support bestowed in the province for the past years.
“We are thankful to the DOH for its support to our health care programs. For the past years they help the province to build birthing stations and to improve medical facilities to our hospitals,” she said.
