GUAGUA, Pampanga–A newly-constructed 102 bed capacity two-storey hospital building inside the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DPMMH) was inaugurated yesterday by Dr. Leonita Gorgolon of the Center for Health and Development (CHD III) of the Department of Health (DOH) and Governor Lilia G. Pineda. This came as Gorgolon formally turned-over the new hospital building to the provincial government headed by Pineda and Dr. Eddie Ponio, DPMMH hospital administrator. Gorgolon cited the efforts and seriousness of Pineda in the delivery of quality health services to the people in the province particularly to the less fortunate.
Gorgolon said the new hospital ward is aimed at enhancing the delivery of basic health services to the Kapampangans in the whole province. Ponio said the new hospital facility was realized with the continuous increase in patients. The hospital administrator said the 2-storey ward building is now ready to accommodate a maximum of 102 patients with its Philhealth Room, private and semi-private rooms, pediatric ward, medical ward and surgical room. He disclosed that another building is being constructed which would serve as administrative offices and diagnostic clinics such as CT scan, MRI, complete with state of the art laboratory equipment and facilities.
Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo said the newly constructed building is set to deliver basic services specifically health care programs to the indigent patients. Arroyo said the essence of public service is saving lives. For her part, Pineda said the provincial government is thankful to the national government particularly to DOH in providing the said facility. “This is in line with our vision of making Pampanga Healthiest province not only in Region III but in the whole country,” the governor said. Pineda also cited the team work between the legislative and executive branches of the provincial government. She lauded the leadership of Vice Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and for giving full support to the health programs of the Pineda administration. It was witnessed by the medical team of Pineda composed of medical practitioners in different field of specialization such as ophthalmology, oncology, plastic surgery, orthopedic, psychiatry, nephrology, internal medicine, cardiology, urology, ob-gynecology, pediatrics and cancer clinic doctors. The inauguration is part of the celebration of the 441st Pampanga Day anniversary.
