CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave recently P200 million to 11 Local Government Units (LGUs) to fund various developmental projects in the province.
DILG Provincial Director Myrvi Fabia identified the municipalities of Apalit, Arayat, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Minalin, San Luis, San Simon and Sto. Tomas as disadvantaged municipalities (ADM) recipients of the funding assistance ranging from P15- P24 million.
According to Fabia, the assistance to disadvantaged municipalities is a funding-support program of the DILG that grants financial subsidy to municipalities amounting to roughly P15 million depending on the population of the LGU.
Among the projects are the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads, building of small water impounding facilities and evacuation facilities, Fabia said.
Fabia also mentioned that these funds are downloaded to LGUs to help the community on raising the standards of the less-privilege fellowmen.
“The first release of funds has been downloaded to select LGUs. We are now waiting for the second tranche of release of ADM for the remaining non-recipients municipalities in Pampanga,” Fabia added.
The good performance of each municipality is determined by the DILG through an annual assessment tool.
The role of DILG remains strong on monitoring the proper utilization of funds and swift implementation of projects.
