CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Davao City First District Representative Karlo Alexei Nograles commended the province of Pampanga for the proper implementation of Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) on his visit here recently.
This was gleaned during the Distribution of SPES Salaries held at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.
Congressman Nograles said that he was amazed on how Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda handles and supports the said program.
He added that SPES was a very important project of the government to help the working students.
“Mahirap po mag-aral, mahirap ang gastos kaya malaking paraan ito upang masuportahan ang ating mga working students,” Cong. Nograles said on his speech.
The Congressman also mentioned that he was one of the primary authors of the SPES Law and made some major improvements on the said program.
He also informed the SPES beneficiaries that for the school year of 2018 to 2019 onward, the free tuition and miscellaneous fee for both state universities and colleges will be continues.
Around 2, 884 students were paid a total of P8, 600 each for the number of days they worked during the SPES.
Meanwhile, Gov. Pineda assured the students that they will increase the budget for the SPES for them to receive a total of P10, 000 salary each.
The event was attended by Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, members of the provincial board , Department of Labor and Employment regional and provincial officers and Public Employment Service Office managers from different towns of Pampanga.
